Westwoods is an ever changing environment. The forest used to be dark and lush, but know the landscape is rough and rocky. The series of blights that have befallen the trees in the past 100 years are largely to blame, but other factors like quarrying and forest harvesting have made this environment what it is. It is not without stunning beauty, but we have to accept that it is constantly changing, just as the bikes we ride through it change over the years.
